Chernobog

An aura of despair fills the quiet hollow, empty save a gastly figure at the center of the fog. He is stationary, unblinking, unbreathing, silent. The fog swirls against the wind, up from the ground to cover everything in grey and muffle the world. As the temperature drops, something looms, and when the fog clears, the spectre is gone. Perhaps it was not real, or maybe only a fever dream, but something feels off ever after, as if the world is wrong.

Chernobog is an Inheritor of the Incarnation with the rare Penance aspect. He appears in dreams to those who have touched death, whether it be a close call with their own life or blood on their claws. Sometimes he simply looks into his target's mind, assessing. But more often than not he finds something to feed to the darkness. Negative emotions, apathy, glee in murder: all of these he can take for his own. His victims will always feel different afterward, hollow and paranoid, and they will find it difficult to hide their inner selves from others.

Whether he finds joy in this task is unclear, as he rarely speaks or visibly shows emotion. His eyes are dark and calculating, but nothing beyond that; he has no objective beyond finding his next target. The Shade has not spoken to him since he was very young, telling him his purpose and what powers it had granted him, but no more. This does not bother him as it would only be less time he could spend erasing the lies of the world. In the cracks in reality his actions leave behind, the Shade slips through and grows stronger.

His existence when not dreaming is a quiet one, spent wandering and searching for the next dream. It is rare that he is seen by the waking eyes of any creature, as he walks through the barrier between our world and the sleeping minds of Sorineth's inhabitants. Which is likely for the better; catching sight of him is bound to draw his attention.
