Feathers was lonely. So lonely, in fact, that she used her special powers as Keeper of the Clan to create a dragon from her imagination. But because this was her first time making one, (and because she didn't use a base component) important things went wrong.
Feathers could tell as soon as the lemon and brown skydancer materialized in front of her. He seemed...wrong.
The edges of him were a bit wispy, and Feathers realized he couldn't speak as she watched him. He simply stood there. Feathers started to walk out of the den. He silently followed her.
"I think your name is Illuquiry." She said quietly, trying not to be disappointed that the dragon she'd created to make her not lonely couldn't speak.
Illuquiry dipped his head in a nod. Feathers slowly left the den.
She didn't see this, but Illuquiry vanished as soon as she looked away.

Illuquiry is only existent when Feathers is looking at him, and therefore supporting his existence. So unless she was interacting with him, Illuquiry was simply nothing. Feathers didn't realize that for a long time, and most dragons don't know. It leads to a lot of confusion and awkward explanations.
