"The frostbite hardly stings"
Harsh wind and snow whipped against the coat of a long tundra dragon. Icicles hung off the edges of his mostly nonfunctional wings, weighing him down along with the wet, thick fur that lay heavily on him. Though his white hood protected his eyes from harm, Hiems squinted against the wind as he trekked on. The Cloudscape Crags were unforgiving, but the thin dragon couldn't regret journeying up for a unique plant he needed. A small, frostbitten cluster of flowers was tucked carefully into a bag under his wing.
Hiems was a powerful mage but refused to use his magic against the natural climate of his clan. He believed it disrespectful to the Icewarden, whom Hiems had unwavering love and respect towards. A small village came into sight, enticing a small sigh of relief that was swallowed up by swirling snowflakes. Hiems hiked to the buildings, finding a quaint shop made for weary travelers like himself. He quickly entered, shutting the door swiftly to keep the snow out. The shop smelled softly of vanilla, pine, and the embers from a fire burning nearby. Hiems pulled his hood back, shaking off the snow caught in his fur. The shop wasn't small, but it wasn't large either. Hiking gear, sleds, and dried jerky were stocked in one corner. In another, charming souvenirs laid neatly sorted on some shelves. A head suddenly popped up from behind the counter, thin and pale. A pair of golden glasses was perched on its snout. The nocturne lit up, grinning widely at Hiems. "Hello, weary traveler! So nice to meet you. Make yourself comfortable and stay as long as you need. Warm up by the fire!" She chirped, waving her hands around as she talked. Hiems hummed softly, offering the dragon a small smile. The shop was a bit too warm for such a thick-coated tundra, but Hiems didn't mind all too much. |
