______ The shadows of the Tangled Wood hold many secrets, but perhaps one of the strangest might be how a Plagueborn Banescale, generations from the elders of her kind, would hold so strongly the lingering ashes of their Flame. Not even she knows why, though Komena is determined to make the best of it.

______ She has since her hatching been able to taste of the memories of her kind, as few other Banescale now can. When she was young, they confused and terrified her. She felt the connection, now so alien, the all Banescale once held. She remembered war and fury and inexorable Ice, extinguishing her core, over thousands of bodies. But these memories, strange and terrible as they are, have granted her the strength to do what must be done.

The Banescale once sought conquest. They warred against Ice and Water, Wind and Lightning. They marched across enemy lands, and burned them to dust and ashes. And in the end, the Banescale were destroyed, their influence gone and their species kept from death only through the little mercy of their oldest enemy. Komena saw this through the eyes of her ancestors, heard with her own ears the songs they sing of repentance and regret.

A passion was ignited within her. For the songs of peace to be more than wishful thinking, hypocrisy sung by those who would march to war the next day. It burns within her whenever she hears of a Beastclan destroyed, its people slain with as much thought as the ancients gave to the lands they burned.

Komena now wields her memories like a sword, warping the world with the strength of a thousand minds given one will. She speaks to the anyone who will listen, dragon or Beast, of the making of peace. She has been attacked by the Beastclans she protects, but she is far from helpless. No matter the cost, she will not take the life of another person. By her will, the wars will truly end.
