Dove's mother, Vitali, is the proud matriarch of a great line of dragons, spreading far across Sornieth. Vitali's children all train alongside her before they leave, learning many things. All learn how to fight, but a few take other lessons of hers to heart as well.

When Dove left home and came to her new clan, she was introduced to a young fae who had also recently arrived. His father, Falaereon, had just come back from helping another clan with a breeding project, with an unexpected, sparkly young one in tow.

Chill, as the ice colored fae was called, was suspicious of her at first. He was suspicious of everyone except his dad, but especially this tundra who he'd been told had a origin like his own. She was younger than him, but so buff?? Something didn't add up, and Chill was going to get to the bottom of it.

He spent the next several days flitting around the clan grounds, following Dove but not approaching her. Fae are small and Chill was exceptionally so, which should have made hiding from view a breeze. Unfortunately for Chill, the light from the sun reflects off his scales in a way unique to crystal dragons and Dove was always aware of his presence.

After a couple days of this, Dove finally broke the tension and invited him to dine with her and ask her whatever it was he so obviously wanted to figure out.

They talked over dinner that night, and then the next, and the one after that. Dove told him about her mother's dream of raising over 100 warriors to protect Sorneith, and Chill told her about his dream of protecting the ones he loves by spying on those who might wish them harm. Dove laughed a little at this-maybe more than she needed to, and told him he'd need to figure out something to do with his scales if he wanted that to work.

Before long, these two young dragons reached the age where they could start having nests of their own, if they wanted. They barely had to discuss it with each other. They knew they both had found their mate and their new shared dream: to try to have 100 hatchlings of their own, together.

When the time came, they made their way to the nesting grounds, and began their great project.
