Biography

HOLD FOR nebuloous

Kilainn hatched in the warm waters of Fishspine Reef. Though, she didn’t hatch alone. It was rare to have twin dragon pups, but she hatched from the same egg as her brother. The adult dragons thought of it as a sign of greater things for the two Wildclaw pups as they made their way to the world. Kilainn caught the eye of the elders when she took her first steps into the deeper waters. As she hit the true vast oceans and seas, runes began to mark her scales and feathers. When the etching had finished, the Wildclaw pup had a magic occurring tattoo on most of her body. It was evident within the following years that she had a closer magic connection to the water as it seemed to listen to her very command. The elders of her birth clan took to the growing Wildclaw pup leaving her brother, Kellar, in the shadows. Kilainn was pulled into their training. She began honing her magic. She began to learn to read the waters -- form premonitions -- it was tiring. She went from a child having fun to an adult within the span of a few years.

A storm caught the clan off guard. Waves swept through their caves and dens. Many dragons perished within the flooding despite being water dragons. Even the most veteran of water dragons wouldn’t survive massive flooding and tidal waves of great proportion. Kilainn survived with her brother. She had managed to protect the both of them from the water using the majority of her magic. It drained her -- tired her. She could barely move. Kellar moved for the both of them. He carried the magic drained Wildclaw on his back as he tried to find a place for them to rest and recover. He had wanted to fall a couple of times as he trekked his way through damage and destruction. The storm had destroyed much more than their home. It had destroyed mountains -- changed landscapes. He took to etching the changed scenery in a journal he carried with him.

Kellar grew to hate Tidelord, but this was not his story.

One day, the twins were found by a group of pirates. The ship had stopped on a shore they were passing. Kilainn had gotten stronger, but her magic still dwindled within her. They were malnourished due to the lack of food from everything changing. The female Wildclaw lifted her head as she spotted the form of another Wildclaw approaching them. She snarled as her big claw dug into the sand. Her tail slashed through the air as she tried to appear threatening. Nothing would happen to Kellar and herself while she was around. Kellar nudged her with his snout to calm his sister. She didn’t need to try and fight every dragon they came across on their endless journey. Kilainn snarled as the runes that ran along her body flashed a light blue before dissipating as the magic wasn’t enough to keep them glowing.

“I do not mean to harm either of you,” the green and red Wildclaw spoke. “I’ve been travelling the seas to find those in need of help after the storm that had rocked our seas and lands.”

“Why should we trust you?” snarled Kilainn as she placed her body low -- ready to strike at a moment’s notice.

“That’s a fair point,” hummed Lithus as he paced back and forth in front of the twin Wildclaws. “I have food. Shelter. Transportation.”

“Kilainn,” said Kellar as he nudged her again. “Please don’t act so tough. We’re both hungry. And your magic hasn’t fully recovered.”

“Magic?” the pirate asked with a bit of a purr in his tone. “You have magic?”

“No,” snapped Kilainn. “At least, not anymore.”

The pirate didn’t say much to her words as he moved to circle around the two Wildclaws. It put Kilainn on edge as she snarled at him. Her jaws snapped together in a biting motion as she tried to go at him. Kellar kept her in place as he placed himself in front of her as a block. He didn’t need her to try and fight the obviously healthier male Wildclaw. Kilainn calmed as she continued to watch Lithus circle them. Her brother tentatively moved to her side as he felt her relax against him. His own muscles relaxed before he sighed.

“Be reasonable,” he told her.

“Fine,” she snapped. “I’m hungry.”

Lithus grinned as he moved toward the ship. His tail waved in a motion as if telling them to follow him. Kilainn tried to bite the tip as she followed, but her brother nudged her away from his tail. Kilainn growled at her sibling before shaking her head. She followed the pirate captain onto his ship as they began their newest adventure.

It didn’t take Kilainn long to adapt to the life of a pirate. She was very good at being a pirate. She had just enough aggression and sass to become one of Lithus’ right hand dragons. They pillaged, they plundered and they helped those who were truly helpless. She grew stronger, healthier, and a lot more powerful as the years swept past after she took that first step onto Lithus’ ship. Kilainn loved the life of a pirate. She felt herself. She hadn’t felt like herself ever since she had hatched.

Her magic restored -- stronger -- overwhelming.

She could control the waves if they were being too rough. She found she could even stop the smallest of storms from forming. Her runes glowed a dark blue as she used her magic to calm the waves. Kilainn looked up the edge of the ship before making a noise. She watched as the monstrous dragon moved beneath the waves before disappearing further into the depths of the ocean. Kilainn could hardly believe her own eyes as she watched the tail of Tidelord be the last thing of him to disappear.

“K-K-Kellar!” she cried as she moved to find her brother.

“W-What?!” asked Kellar as he dropped his map. “What’s the matter?! Who’s hurt?! Should I call Lithus!”

“N-No!” she said. “I saw Tidelord!”

Kellar stared at his sister before moving his head to look around the ship. He went back to staring at her before snorting. Kilainn frowned as she realized her brother didn’t believe her.

“Listen Kell …”

“Really? Tidelord? He disappeared years ago,” Kellar spoke with a matter of fact tone. “Kilainn, we definitely need to get your eyes --”

“But I saw him!” his sister cried as she stopped a foot on the ship’s wooden deck.

The waves splashed against the side of the ship as she grew agitated. Kellar made a noise as he tried to calm his sister. He hadn’t meant to make her upset. Tidelord hadn’t been seen in years, so he was a bit skeptical that she had seen him.

“Calm yourself, Kilainn.”

Kilainn calmed as she heard Lithus’ voice appear behind them. The Wildclaw whipped her head around to spot Lithus before a yelp escaped her throat. The others of the ship were staring at her. She had forgotten that they weren’t the only two on the deck of the ship. Lithus chuckled as he walked closer to the twins.

“Thought you saw Tidelord, yeah?” he hummed.

“I know what I saw,” she said with a slight stomp of her foot. “Lithus, please …”

“I believe you.”

“Y-You … You do?”

“The ocean is vast,” answered Lithus. “Tidelord was last seen diving into the deeper parts of this ocean. It’s not so unbelievable that somebody is bound to see him.”

“But,” Kellar argued.

“There is a team forming to search for Tidelord,” hummed Lithus. “I much prefer the both of you on my ship. Your skills are admirable and very much wanted, but I can make a detour to drop you off.”

“Really?” asked Kilainn.

“If you so wish.”

Kellar huffed as he heard the excitement in his sister’s voice. He wanted nothing to do with the search for Tidelord. As far as he was concerned, he preferred to just leave him lost. The Wildclaw went to voice his own opinions before his voice deflated. His sister looked happy about the fact that she would be able to help to find Tidelord. She had caught a glimpse of him, so she knew in the direction which the god was moving. He sighed. Kellar would follow his sister if it meant that it made her happy, and he would never abandon her.

“Drop us off, Lithus,” Kellar said. “We’re going Tidelord hunting.”

“Hmm,” laughed Lithus. “At least, we all know Tidelord truly exists!”

“Yeah, unlike Bigfoot,” huffed Kilainn. “I swear -- those dragons are crazy.”

Kilainn jumped off the side of the boat as soon as it docked. She unfurled her wings to glide to the dock before looking around the area. Many dragons were surrounding the docks as well as the outlying areas. Kellar made a noise as he appeared using the ship’s docking board. Kilainn grinned at him before nudging her brother.

“Don’t be too nervous, brother! We’re going to make history!”

Kellar grunted as he heard his sister. He glanced at the dragons that were waiting for something to happen. He moved to stare at the dock.

“Yay, history,” he muttered.

Lithus appeared beside them as his tail swayed back and forth. He seemed to have a presence as others moved farther away from the trio. The pirate captain hummed before he smiled at his first mate and mapmaker.

“When you’ve completed your journey, you’re more than welcome to rejoin the crew. You only have to find me.”

The twin Wildclaws watched Lithus depart with his ship before they moved to watch a Snapper appear out of the doors of the dock house. He looked skilled and knowledgeable. Kellar trilled in nervousness and anticipation. Kilainn joined him in their song before the Snapper cleared his throat.

“Welcome!” his voice bellowed across the area. “My name is Professor Port. I am in charge of gathering a select few to help in the search of Tidelord. Many dragons from all the elements have decided to volunteer in this endeavour, but, I’m afraid, only a few will be selected in this search. Fear not! We will have training and trials for all of you to complete.”

There were whispers among the dragons as they heard Professor Port. Kilainn smiled as her runes began to glow as a mist began to form around the area. She knew she would have no problem getting onto the Tidelord Search Team. Kellar bumped her side to get the mist to disappear. He gave Kilainn a look as her runes stopped glowing. She gave him an apologetic smile before moving her head upward to give a long trill of excitement. Other dragons soon joined her with their own sounds of excitement. She moved her head down to watch all the others as they joined her call. Her tail swayed side to side in excitement and anticipation. She was going to help make history.

… and she would stop at nothing to find Tidelord. -Lore by SilverOtter
