Being the third adopted child of two Kings has it's ups and downs. Charoite knows all about the pros of this, seeing as he was doted over his whole life and loved more than anything. He does not know why he was adopted, but it was never a point to talk about it for him, unless he truly needed to know. So, he didn't ask. He doesn't need to know, he has parents that chose him. That's good enough for him. So, when he feels a pull to sword training, and more importantly, to something otherworldly... he goes.

**As Charoite stood in front of the Forbidden Portal, he knew what he was doing was foolish. His adopted family doted on him, there was no need for him to prove himself in so reckless a fashion as to face the perils of this place alone, and should they learn of his folly, even Larimar might manage to scrape together the words to scold him for it.
Had Charoite but asked, any and all of them would have leapt to stand at his side, and help him face any and all danger.

Yet the unnamed something which had drawn him forth like a moth to the flame demanded that he do so alone, and he felt honor-bound to heed its directive. Head held high, he set forth to meet his fate with nary a backwards glance.**

In the Forbidden Portal, Charoite was met with Versace who helped him him control his new found curse. With both of them trapped in the portal, Charoite made a deal with the Eldritch creature to find a way out for them. They've been together since and Charoite is more than happy with him.
