Lazuli

Lazuli runs a smaller fighting competition with lesser consequences for the loosing party. Occasionally people train under him in preparation for the main pits, but generally it's just the locals. He's a retied champion from the pits, which is a title many dragons have learned to respect. Those who fight in the main pits give up their entire life to doing so, escaping is the only true way of winning, but once you've become a champion even that chance at freedom becomes null. They know he's hunted, that there is a bounty on his head and if they train under him too long that the price will soon extend to them. There's no way to bring him back to the pits anyway, you don't face a pit champion and win. They're not dragons anymore, they're just weapons. Still, their master is kind to them in the way others were never kind to him. It's a price they are willing to pay for kindness, for a chance to survive in this bloodthirsty hell.
