____________
To be exalted is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a dragon in any clan.

Luyten cannot remember why she was chosen to be exalted. She cannot remember much of her time in service to the Shadowbinder, aside from the endless darkness, choking and cold.

But when she drew breath anew in a thick stand of thorny bramble, lungs burning after an unknown length of disuse, she knew that she had no desire to learn of her past. Her goddess had granted her knowledge, and in that knowledge, power that dragons had long forgotten.

Those who are unlucky enough to lay eyes on the looming matriarch of the Tenebrae Clan see one last gift bestowed upon Luyten by her deity -- a sign that she is a chosen child of the Shadowbinder -- in the form of darkened eyes, endlessly dripping the sizzling power of a god.

Luyten defends the lands she was returned to viciously, taking those who wander through under her wing to learn. If, she deems them worthy, that is. Many dragons travelling in the area speak of not being able to remember wide swathes of their journey through the bramble thickets. Tales of dragons going missing in the Thicket become commonplace.

Only those who live beneath the roots know the truth of the world above, brought to them from a dragon who met their deity face-to-face, and was granted the honor of becoming a living messenger to the Shadowbinder's warnings.
