Biography

He never wanted to be a Mage.

It wasn't because he was lacking in skill, however. Goma was seen as a role model to his peers in the academy, all of the Professors there were certain that Goma would become his generation's most powerful Mage. The outside world knew of him, and regarded him as a beacon of hope, hope that Goma would be able to settle the conflicts that had been raging on for eons.
How that last part could be helped with him becoming a powerful Mage made no sense to Goma, and he could care less about it.

He never wanted to be a Mage.

He was never given the choice anyways. His parents, being lowly gem miners, wanted the best and more for Goma.
"You will make us proud, son. Promise us that you will do anything to not end up like us."
"You're a genius by nature my little Goma! You have a bright future ahead of you sweetheart!"

He hated the thought of being the vessel in which his parents could insert themselves into, living out a life that was not of his own choosing, feeling like a domesticated Hainu at best, a homunculus at worst.

He never wanted to be a Mage.

Goma was starting to yearn for a glimpse of the outside world, a permanent escape from his sheltered life.

He could care less about ending up in a similar place as his parents! He wanted to smell the salty splashes of the Tidelord's domain! Breeze through The Windswept Plateau, feel the supposed unbearable heat of The Ashfall Waste!

He yearned for and end to the "mysterious Arcane nonsense" plaguing his mind, he needed a much-deserved break from theories and speculations, experiments and enchantments!

Goma begged for freedom from being surrounded by what he deemed as unnatural. He wanted -- no, hold on -- needed to feel and see the world at its "magic-less" state, where what he saw was, for the most part, what he got.

"I, Goma, will never be a Mage."
