Viper was found and raised in the Starfall Isles. As a young dragon he worked as an assistant to a mage working in the Tourmaline Archives. His duties were strictly to keep the Archives organized but his mentor would occasionally teach him a simple spell or two. Viper would soon develop an interest in magic and he began learning more and more intricate spells in his free time. Over time, his connection to the Arcanist became stronger and his eyes started resembling those he had seen on some of the more powerful mages he had known. He invented a couple of his own spells and runes, as well as a system that could somewhat accurately predict the personality of a dragon based only on when and where they were born. This all culminated in him accidentally turning his toad 'familiar' into a dragon.
At that point he decided to quit pursuing magic out of fear of hurting others. He left his home in the Isles, along with his former toad Bufo. His previous working experience and vast knowledge of Arcane culture helped him secure a spot as an Arcane representative in a small Water clan. He appointed an apprentice, a small nocturne named Nightchaser, and began teaching her all he knew about their flight.
