Biography

Cursed by the ability to see images on the wind this wildclaw keeps her eyes covered to prevent the barrage of images from rendering her unable to function. The covering of her eyes does nothing to dim her hearing and most things spoken on a day the winds are blowing eventually makes it to her ears. She is one of the clans more successful travelers. Few take notice of a dragon they see being led around by chubby little pukasloth. Those who have dared to ambush her have been badly surprised.

The wind rushed over the grassy fields of the Windswept Plateau. It has finally begun to warm up again; the winds had been fierce for past several days. For this reason she had been forced to take shelter in order to keep the wind from completely disorienting her. The undersized female wildclaw ventured cautiously out of her hastily made bamboo and grass shelter flinching whenever the wind picked up. She muttered aloud, "Finally, this blasted wind has died down. Good thing too, I've needed to go hunting for several days now."; She makes her way, on foot, towards the bamboo forests at the top of the Zephyr Steppes. As she travelled she struggled to maneuver around the flashes of confusing images and sounds that the winds carried to her. Eventually she spotted a rabbit on the edge of the bamboo forest, assuring herself that it was real, she folded her wings over her light coat and began to attempt to sneak up on it. Just as she was getting within reach of the hare, a sudden breeze blinded her with a flash of crimson and she stumbled alerting her prey to her presence. “Damnit, damnit damnit.” She shakes her head sharply while attempting to clear her vision. When that failed she closed her eyes in an attempt to stave off the headache that often accompanied those flashes. Soon the winds brought the sound of muffled cursing and she decided to track the sound hoping that the dragon that accompanied the voice may be open to a trade for food as she would not be able to hunt until the headache subsided.
After some time she came upon a young crimson and leaf imperial who appeared to have gotten himself entangled in a combination of canvas, string, and the bamboo stalks. She stared at the tangle and for a brief moment thought that she was suffering from another vision or hallucination. The Imperial catches sight of her and his face brightens somewhat. “Hey, you do you think you can give me a hand here? I was test flying a kite for the festival and I … kinda got my wings tangled up in the string. I’m afraid if I move too much I’ll tear the kite. I worked really hard and it took a really long time for me to make so I’d like to try not to mess it up. “He looks pleadingly at the wildclaw, “Please help me out of this.” The wildclaw hesitates but her stomach chooses that moment to rumble loudly. The imperial hears it and his eyes sharpen, “I can offer food if you want, I have bat wings, and birds and frogs and all sorts of meat. I’ll give you it all if you help me get free.” The wildclaw’s eyes widen, “All of it? You promise?” The imperial nods as much as he can without moving the rest of his body, “Yeah, I’ll have plenty of fish left so I don’t mind giving you all my meat stuff.” The wildclaw sidles closer “Ok I’ll try to get you lose.”
She studies the tangle from various angles in order to find where the kite string originated. Once she found the end of the string she begins to work quietly to untangle and unknot it. The imperial fidgets a bit and begins to pepper her with questions. “So what’s your name? What’s your clan name? What area do you live in? What kind of magic do you have? Hmm?” The wildclaw eyes him, “Stop moving. I … don’t have a name or a clan and as far as I can tell I have no magic. Do you always ask questions like this?” The imperial grins, “Yes, I like learning about other dragons. It’s a shame that you don’t have a clan. I’ve never met a dragon without a name. My name is Jamoni, I’m a messenger of the Niharike clan in the Ashfall Waste. I love to travel and meet new dragons. I came over here to test fly my new kite and see how others are crafting theirs. So what were you doing out here?” The wildclaw frowns, “I was hunting for my dinner before the winds picked back up again when I heard you. Speaking of which the winds seem to have stopped temporarily which is good, won’t have too many flashes that way.” Jamoni looks curious “Flashes? That’s interesting and I’m afraid the wind not blowing is my fault I didn’t want the string ties to tangle even more so I temporarily stopped the wind from blowing around me for a while. Sorry about that.” The wildclaw goes quiet for a moment while she untangles the last of the kite string, “There it’s all untangled now. I’ll take my food now.” Jamoni eases carefully out of the bamboo gathering his kite and tidily bundling it up. He takes off his casings and begins to pull out carefully wrapped parcels.
The wind begins to blow gently across the area and the wildclaw flinches as the breezes hit her. “Blue and purple things heading here, really big dragons coming from the east I think.” Jamoni blinks at the Wildclaw, “How did you ….? That sounds like Zanviol and Miecalei, Oh Windsinger, I’m in trouble I’m not supposed to be out by myself today, I got impatient.” The wildclaw glances at Jamoni, “when the wind blows I see and hear things sometimes.” She scowls, “I can’t always tell whether their real or my imagination. You were one of the few sounds and images that I followed and was actually able to find. They are usually blinding and it makes for … interesting living.” Jamoni cocks his head and looks at the sky nervously, “how do you fly like that?” The wildclaw smiles sadly, “I don’t know how to fly, I never had a teacher and when I try to teach myself I get too distracted by the wind. I’ve learned how to survive on foot here.” Jamoni looks at her with horror, “You’ve never flown before???” He looks down at the canvas of his kite and begins to tear off a long strip of it. The wildclaw stares at him, “What are you doing?” Jamoni grins at the wildclaw, “I’m going to take you flying wind seer, there will be other festivals I don’t need to have a kite for this one.” He lightly ties the strip over her eyes and checks to make sure all his materials are packed properly in his case, “Climb on wind seer, hold on tight and we’ll go meet Zan and Micha.” The wildclaw pauses for a bit, gingerly climbs on Jamoni’s back and murmurs to herself, “Windseer hmm? I like the way that sounds Jamoni. Take me flying Jamoni.” Jamoni grins and takes off into the sky towards the Ashfall Waste.
