There is a Skydancer that serves as a harbringer of a deadly illness called the Operator Sickness. Some say it's from the Scarred Wasteland. Others say the Tangled Woods. All that's known is the harbringer is currently a white Ice Skydancer that carries the title of Operator. The name 'Operator' is passed down from mentor to trainee. The trainees are trained to be hardened to the illness's effects as possible. The illness, from what is understood, is in fact the Shade trying to take ahold and take all magic from the victim. The Operator may in fact be a piece of the Shade.
