Cailleach is a witch doctor who specializes in potions, tonics, and salves made with ingredients she finds around the brackish marshes bordering Heron Cove. She lives in the slough created by overflow of the arterial river during heavy rains, where long tendrils of moss drape from the trees like eerie eldritch curtains, filtering and dappling what little sunlight can permeate the tree canopy. She can typically be found stewing ingredients in her cauldron, or overturning mossy logs in search of medicinal fungi (and tasty grubs to snack on). Her mate Vodyanoi is often her voluntold taste tester for new tinctures, after she implores him that this one will not turn him into a toridae.

While she is happy to trade her brews with the resident dragons of the Cove, she does not take kindly to being disturbed by those with intent to steal her recipes, and is suspicious of most visitors unless they provide a small gift upon their arrival. The more rare and novel their offering, the more willing she is to share her most elusive and potent elixirs. However, dragons who attempt to trick her by falsely inflating the rarity of their wares may not like the recipe she provides in return. Stories have traveled Sornieth-wide of foolish young dragons seeking powerful love potions or battle tonics from the witch doctor disguising moldy wisp fruit as her favourite aether cherries, only to later attempt to woo their intended with a love potion comprised entirely of bonepriest venom and greatshell dung.
