Crystals, minerals, even plain quartz, anything! She can turn any old rock into a fine piece of beautiful art and is best at shaping gold and carving jade! She came from a nest of 3 brothers and sisters and has always been the oldest, having to take responsibility for everything, but she still loves her family. Nikolai is playful and fun to be around, but has a strange sense of humor and doesn't like being hugged.

Claws carefully etch on the finishing touches; details were most important, mother always said. Nikolai lifts her index claw from the jaw of a grinning spiral(didn’t resemble her younger sister, nope, just a random spiral), and shakily sets it on the counter. It was fine, they would be fine, her family would be fine. They didn’t need her to care for them every minute of the day, they would be fine.

But what if her siblings weren’t still laughing like they had been? What if they’re in danger, and she wasn’t there? What if something happened and they weren’t able to get food and were starving, and she’s just here doing nothing? What if another clan invaded theirs, and- and-

No. Calm down. Deep breaths, like her dad taught her to. In, out. In, out. In, out. They’re fine, they’re okay. Nothing bad happened to them. Dad knows how to fight, and mom can sell her carvings for money. Her brothers and sisters had been taught basic survival skills, they could be left alone. Nikolai takes one last breath, and opens her eyes.

The marble spiral was still smiling up at her. Rider would like it, Nikolai thinks.

A visit wouldn’t hurt.
