Biography

Bat is an adventurous nocturne that loves exploring caves. She also specializes in voice mimicry, so she can send messages between others and repeat what they say with ease. Bat is constantly honing her skills to impress her adoptive mother, Amber. She likes to sleep upside down, often using her tail to grip branches. The nocturne is friendly to all except food. Bat managed to find a strange plushies that looked like a spiral, she chose to keep it. She is unaware that Matcha is somewhat alive, but the plushie still brings her comfort.

Bat met Bern one day while traveling the Woodland Path, she found the tundra grazing on a few dandelions. They talked with one another and became friends within a few hours, she brought him back to the tribe to show Amber. The guardian didn’t seem to frighten him one bit, in fact he seemed quite excited. Amber approved of Bern being the noc’s adventuring partner. They haven’t separated ever since.

In the Forgotten Cave, they encountered a trio of Bramble Guardians. One of them had a cluster on fungi on its back, yet it was pale didn’t seem to be moving. Bern managed to encase one in stone, while Bat dive-bombed another. It wasn’t until Bat’s back was turned that the mushroom riddled Bramble Guardian attacked. It sank its teeth into her back and yanked her out of the sky. Bern threw a decent sized rock at it, which only seemed to provoke it further. Bat continued to flail as she felt the creature remained attached to her back. As a last resort, Bern charged at the Guardian and managed to dislodge it. When it finally collapsed, Bern encased it in stone to ensure it wouldn’t move again. He tended to Bat’s wounds and bandaged her up, thankful that there wasn’t any extensive damage.

Over the next few months, Bat noticed there were mushrooms growing on her back and shoulders. When she mentioned it to Bern, he inspected the mushrooms himself. They didn’t seem harmful, but it was safer to check with a dragon who knew the effects of the fungi. Bern had Amanita look at the mushroom colony to ensure it was safe. Much to Bat and Bern’s relief, the mushroom wasn’t adapted to taking over a dragon host. Whenever too many mushrooms appear, Bat has Bern eat them. The tundra somehow found out that they were edible and claims they vaguely taste like Parmesan.

Bat is a nocturne that hatched from a nine month old egg. It was cold to the touch and there was barely any movement from it. Several tribe members tried hatching it, but nothing seemed to work. So they settled on bringing the egg to Amber. The guardian seemed reluctant to try on account of the fact that hatching things weren’t her forte. Needless to say, she took care of the egg. Often going out of her way to make sure it stayed warm and brought it with her when she went to hunt.

It wasn’t until one moonlit night that the egg began to hatch. Amber watched as it shook within its makeshift nest. A small snout poked its way out of the egg, followed by a pair of claws. The small nocturne opened its eyes and churred softly. The hatchling clumsily waddled over to the guardian and decided to lay on her, much to the happiness of the tribe.
