Osiem_Dividers_Fire01.png

Ignis met the clan's explorers during one of their missions in the Blacksand Annex. He was trying to retrieve a long lost family heirloom in ancient ruins but was unable to do so alone. So they teamed up and Ignis ended up following them home and joining permanently the team.
At first, this independant dragon was always away, exploring the world. But he as soon as he got to know the clan members better, he was seen more often around the clan... and around a certain fly teacher.

Ignis is a very skilled flyer and enjoys flying challenges a lot. More than meer racing, what thrills him is the challenge of difficult movement needing precision and fly mastering.

Ignis often teams up with Masteval, and as strange that this duo may ssem, it works. Masteval genuinely loves his buddy, and Ignis... Ignis bears with him. He's more often than not worried about his safety and often ends up scolding him. To him, Masteval is a tiring fellow... but he's also a never ending source of energy and positivity.

DRAGON'S RELATIONSHIPS
54665225_350.png Partner: Fulgur
They're gay ; they fly competitively a lot together. Fulgur is rather jealous of Masteval's bond with Ignis, and that sometimes causes discord in the couple.

You, from a writers perspective
A note from OC Hatchery
BUOHXJB.png

We often focus on things like our appearance or social interactions to gage our importance. We lose track of what really matters.
Be you, be strong, love yourself. You are special because you’re you.
Argue with any writer who tries to deem otherwise.
If we can all work to become our own personal best protagonist, and the hero’s of our own lives, then perhaps the world will get better too.
The following are five key points for good character creation, and for us to keep in mind in perspective of ourselves:
  • Strengths - Good listener, thoughtful, considerate, respectful, grateful. Able to see on the bright side. Knows who you want to be. Stands up for self. Helps friends. Can say no. Good researcher. Understands X subject very well. Doesn’t need to be right or have the last word.
Sometimes they’re things from people around: Has the support of friends. Feels helpful in X group. Pulls happiness from a cloudy day or a blooming flower.
Strengths aren’t always physical or even recognized by those around you. If you’re not beating yourself up over something that has troubled you for a long time today, you’re being strong. Every character has some of these. Every character is working on gaining more. Character arc is when weaknesses are turned to strength through time, effort and desire = Growth.
  • Weaknesses - Regrets. Disabilities. Poor language skills. Listening to other people’s opinions. Not desiring to gain more knowledge. Depression. Anxiety. Fear. Helplessness. Doubt.
Sometimes, a lot of times, they’re reinforced or come from outside: Work, school, social pressure. Dependence. Abuse.
Without weaknesses characters are boring. They have nothing to grow from, nothing to overcome, nothing to learn. Don’t let your weaknesses get you down. Everything can be fought, controlled, treated, improved. . . and even if they never go away, they can become strengths through perspective.
  • Trauma - We’ve all been through something. Life is never entirely rainbows, glitter and butterflies. Things shape and affect us for the rest of our lives. No such thing is invalid or unimportant. For characters these things can be the most important, because past experiences and trauma’s can change the smallest interaction drastically. This applies to everyone, not just people who’ve been to war or other commonly noted ‘big things’. Being yelled at can be traumatic, a death, a car accident, certain words said a certain way. It’s not a competition, it’s simply what makes you who you are. Accept it, embrace it. Find the things that would never have happened without it - the good ones - and remember those when days get bad.
  • Identity - Perspective is a wonderful thing. What outside sources see is often entirely different from what we see in ourselves. What I might see as a character’s strength, the character may perceive as their greatest weakness. Our identity of ourselves comes from this internal perspective and often begins to change depending on how we view our strengths and weaknesses, as well as how much we listen to the voices of those around us - for good or ill. Regardless of a character’s strengths or weaknesses, if the character themselves doesn’t see it, they’re unlikely to be helpful. Identity is special and unique. No one else is ever going to be exactly the same or view things exactly the way you do. Be aware, be you, and above all: be the you you want to be.
  • Validity - A characters opinions and choices are valid to them. It doesn’t matter if the writer shares them, or doesn’t. It doesn’t matter if their friends or co-workers or family share them or don’t. This is them, it’s who they are and what they need and the direction that looks best to them. As a writer it’s important to never forget that fact. Agreement is not required, just staying true to self. This is true for you too. You, yourself, are valid.
