Biography

Searching to find their magic...
He/Him

Lore by winterbright

___The first aurora of the season was an auspicious event for the Brightwinter clan, celebrated with an annual festival, rituals and dancing. Unseelie and his sibling's eggs were lain in a carefully crafted nest of crystalline ice, on that very night, beneath a particularly bright and beautiful aurora. Their parents hoped the coming winter's celestial energies would bring great blessings to their first clutch. And at first, it would seem that they were right - fortune had smiled upon their firstborn, a brilliantly hued coatl, with scales and feathers reminiscent of the ice and sky like his parents before him. The doting couple decided to name him for a long lost friend of his father, a fae queen particularly gifted with the magics of winter. They had hoped that this would heap yet another blessing upon their child, but unbeknownst to them, the fae queen's name carried a curse with it as well.
___When Unseelie began his first day of training at the nursery with the other hatchlings, the little coatl found himself unable to tap into his growing well of magical energy. Whereas his siblings could produce simple spells and cantrips with ease, he was unable to manage even a single tiny sparkle of anything. And yet, he could feel the energy surging within him, seeking to be used. It was as if something had simply locked it up, put it away where he couldn't reach it, and it was slowly but surely seeking a way to break out on its own. After some consultation with the clan's healers and mages, it was found there was little they could do except confirm a strange eldritch curse on the child. And so the little hatchling was sent out from the clan quite early in life, with loving goodbyes and a gift from his parents to take along with him to keep him company in the form of a familiar. It was hoped the clan he was sent to might know something more of fae magic than his home clan, or else be able to help him a little more than they could - if nothing else perhaps the waters the clan called home might be able to help melt away the curse, little by little.
