Uh-oh, looks like an alchemist on the hunt for enlightenment wandered a little too far from his home lair (385984, ZippoFeuer), and now he's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, he'd really appreciate it if you could just return him to the home lair, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here. This is not necessary, but he would be very grateful!

Alkahest: the universal solvent.
That which can dissolve gold, or else it is the philosophers' stone and the elixir of life. What does a dragon want, or need, with that?
Alkahest has been accused on many occasions of greed; it is often the name given to those who wish to make base metals into gold. True, with so much gold, it would be easy to grow ever further towards that great work- but by then, he'd have already produced that goal. And while it would be nice to have such wealth, it would just as likely get boring.
So he wants it for the secondary reason- elixir of life. But even then, he knows that permanence, that life forever without end, would make any sense of urgency for his goals slip away. Why should an immortal want to do anything? All the time in the world means there is no drive to complete anything, surely. At least, he knows that with infinite time, he would want infinite perfection- and then he would get no where.

Perhaps... it is the draw of that which has not been made. The hubris that pulls everyone to achieve the greatness that has not been touched yet. A fanatical desire to become something great.
The gold, the immortality, would be fine, but the honor of being the first? How sweet the taste of such a thing.

the young alchemist entered the land of the Earth flight. Tired, he found a small cave to hide and sleep in, not realizing that a young nocturne lived here.

The small nocturne hopped in after hunting, and lightly poked his nose.

"Hello?"
Her voice was tiny.

Alkahest opens his eyes, once able to focus on the dragon, his eyes go big.

"My apologies! I thought that this was an empty cave! My name is Alkahest, im an alchemist on the search of an elixir of life."
He holds out a talon.

"its Alright! Im Abigail!"
She shakes his talon.

"you can stay here as long as you wish! Just don't touch the baskets, im a gifter during Rockbreaker."
Abigail gives a large smile to her new cave mate
