Slade

Slade was a dragon sold at low prices that meant he would likely be exalted to the gods. A noble cause but then he saw his Mistress. She picked him up, paid his dues and took him to the lair only after buying a monstrous amount of apparel and a gene scroll. He was soon wrapped in the scroll and his tiger patterns were changed to ripple. She said he would need to grow strong. She needed more who could fight in her clans. He looked at what he was told was his apparel and knew, that he was worth a great deal. To his Queen, this treasure was meaningless if it made him perfect. So perfect he would be. She spoke that when he was ready, then he would be trained to fight other dragons but more importantly, the oncoming beast hoards. That is why he needed his armor. So Slade knew he had to work back his debt. Not that his Mistress kept tabs on that like he did.

He saw her for a time, hoarding the most beautiful pale blue silk. Sky Blue, she snorted at him as though he should know color difference. Though he later learn it made a difference in price. His Mistress was an artist and had painted the walls of the room where she kept the silks. Just as an old skydancer and his son came to live there. Then he saw him. Azian returned with a beautiful wildclaw following behind her, who quickly stole the small hoard of plushies kept for the youngest hatchlings before flipping into the painted room. Nightwing, his Mistress explained as the Wildclaw returned in those silks. Slade would win this Nightwing no matter the cost.

But after a wonderful mating that gave him two children who lavishing with all the love and affection any sire could offer, Nightwing refused him. Refused to go near him or speak to him... He was hurt by that Batman's antics with his other dragons. And Slade loathes him. Hates him. But when he hears that they sent away all of Batman's children to serve the glorious Shadowbinder and become proper mates, he mourned.

And vowed to never nest again.

His mistress was kind to him during this time and took care to make him eat. Grant and Rose spent their days with Hope, digging further into the lair. Slade liked the snapper well enough. And after a long time like this, Slade heard his Mistress sigh and the flutter of new wings. She had too much of a soft heart. Lifting his head, he saw the most beautiful coatl land before Azian covered him in pink bows. Beautiful... Large eyes, cute fluff and small frame.

He would win this one... Right? So he left to buy a Candycane Xolo. That would work. But when he returned he couldn't find the coatl. And after searching, he returned to his part of the lair with the familiar at his side. But there Eros was, playing with Grant and Rose. Yes. This little one would belong to Slade. At least until he vanished one day after being playfully crude to one Hannibal Lecter. He should have watched his new mate more carefully.
