Haunted
A faint green wisp drifts through the air. Pale in comparison to the azure blue sky, it seems out of place. Your mind is troubled, and an unnatural shiver runs down your spine. For this realm is that of light and new life, is it not? Yet there it is, a ghoulish figure gliding elegantly through the tangled new shoots that cling to the crumbling temple walls.
Do not be afraid...
It turns, and beneath the veil of jade and amethyst smoke, a face appears. She is quite beautiful, not a line to mar her rounded features. Despite this, unease still hangs in the air like a thick haze, and it becomes quite clear as she moves towards you that worry is etched into the sparkle of her blue eyes.
I come in peace! For I am... Lost. Forgive me, I know I am a blight upon this perfect world. I have seen the fear so many times before, and I know you will never understand, however hard I try to explain. The light is lovely, but though I reach for the sun, I cannot quite leave behind the long winters of the past. Carry on your journey, dear traveller, and be kind. The world needs not more heavy souls like mine...
The last murmured sentence carries on the breeze, and as you watch, she vanishes behind a stone column of the temple. A strange encounter, one which could do easily have been passed off by your mind as merely imagined. But something about her words echoes in your mind, and so you carefully envelope her advice into the corners of your mind and continue your journey.
