"There are simple truths about angels and demons, things any researcher worth their salt should know." Alastair adjusted himself, reading out loud the draft he'd just finished.

"For instance; both have been around for a millennia, haunting their respective dimensions and ours, when able. However, to persist in our world, they must take on a draconic form or other. Some take vessels, overwhelming the soul previously within it or sharing the space, and some are powerful enough to make their own mortal shells. Which leads me to another simple truth.

"All of them bleed. Demons bleed black ichor, thick like tar and stinking of the hells. Angels bleed golden ichor, smelling of heavenly ambrosia with a consistency of ink. To lose their form here means they are sent back to their respective dimension, though many possess efficient healing abilities that make this laborious to try and do.

"Both carry their otherworldly abilities over to our realm, but magic connects all dimensions, so it only makes sense that this is so. Angels are, generally, benevolent, so they conceal their true forms out of common courtesy to keep from burning out the eyes of anyone unfortunate enough to look upon them. Demons tend to be- again, generally- more malevolent. They often have several forms, and have no qualms in abusing their devilish powers. There are always exceptions, and I have come to meet plenty nasty angels and laid back demons in my time here in The Devil's Pit."
