Biography
In the old den that Duat and Amenti belonged to, the members would not even talk to a dragon other than a Guardian, let alone let one into their family. There was a time where Duat had to turn away a baby Nocture simply per the rules of her den. This, of course, was before Duat acquired the confidence to rebel against her matriarch. When Duat rejected the small dragon, it was cold and raining; the tag around its neck nearly illegible. Hadui it read. As much as Duat would like to hope, she knows deep down inside that the Nocturne didn't last the night. And as much as Duat would like to blame the rules of the den for the dragon's death, she knows deep down that she could've done something. She could've fashioned a makeshift shelter for the baby or passed it off to nomadic den that was passing through. But she did nothing.
So as one might imagine, when a homeless and orphaned baby Nocturne plodded to the entrance of Duat and Amenti's newly founded Den, soaked and shivering, Duat took her in and immediately placed her in front of a fire.
"Hadui," whispered Duat. "That is your name now."
"Hadui! Hadui! Hadui!" yipped the warm Nocturne.
Duat chuckled at Hadui's excitement.
"Who are... you?" asked Hadui.
"Oh." Duat wasn't expecting such a question, but after a few seconds, she had an answer. "I'm your mother." Duat gestured to the area around her with her wings. "And this is your home."
An hour or so passed, and Amenti entered the den after a long day of hunting and foraging. At first, he was surprised to see a strange child in the middle of his home, but when he saw how Duat curled her body around Hadui, he couldn't help but smile. He joined them in slumber and figured that he could wait to introduce Hadui to her father in the morning.
