the keenest lookout and an actual chuunibyou. tends to present herself as a dark god or a demon prince. one of the youngest, but has a penchant for acting ancient. greatly looks up to hael and bragi, constantly at their heels and seeking to learn their ways.

though "dark" and "demonic" and "the abyssal god-king of eventide, the blackblooded lord-general of the army of the obsidian heart", rancor is always full of energy and enthusiasm and theatrics, always encouraging and other members of the clan, a driving force of surprising positivity.

malice is his adopted sister, star his adopted brother.

• cast out from a coatl/banescale clan for their dull coloration and picked up by the then-unnamed malice, who had been wandering the land in mourning.
• paralyzing fear of being unwanted and abandoned again.
• named itself rancor. after some pestering, malice consented to being named malice.
• can't decide on an official title for her demon prince persona. or powers, for that matter.
• only ever drops character around malice and star.
• amazing night vision. oft gets put on night shift wth star. hael actually finds it very reliable in dark environs during their hunting trips and patrols.
• bragi humors them with a great deal of fake exasperation. she's not cruel enough to quash their admiration.
