Mascot decided he would solve the problem of not having any friends by making himself one. He took the heart of a dragon from among the jars in Binder's collection and sewed it into a body made of castoff fabrics from Loughrey's shop. The inside was all rotten rags, feathers, bits of fur, and all the softest things Mascot could find.

He made the Poppet look like he did, because that seemed like the proper thing to do. The night she woke was the happiest Mascot could ever remember being
