Duilin

He/him pronouns!

Duilin is the ringmaster and leader of the circus, travelling from town to town in every region of Sornieth. Every time the circus settles down, the circus members open up their soothsaying shops, exotic healing services, and various other supposedly helpful practices, to get that bit of extra money. The idea was proposed by their true shadowborn leader, who is always up for some trickery and treachery. For now, they have set up camp beneath the research towers, for the boss's personal business.


Lore notes:
• orphaned from a young age - but he was the one who killed his parents
• felt that he was destined for greatness, his family only kept him down
• his family wanted him to become a gambler, just like them, but he knew he would never escape that lowly, insecure life
• murdered his father in his sleep and poisoned his mother, then locked his siblings up in the house and set it on fire, after taking all things of value with him
• first wanted to be a mercenary, but it didn't have enough status for his tastes
• he then blackmailed the clan ruler and took over the reigns, but he found out he didn't want the responsibilities that come with ruling a whole clan and left his small rural town, instead going to the great shadow cities where all famous robbers and tricksters dwell
• decided that he should accept his Shadow nature and became a con man, tricking wealthy dragons into accepting him in their staff and then robbing them blind
• used his money to build a great casino, instead of playing at the tables himself he was now the one in charge, stealing the money of poor gambling dragons like his now-dead family
• angered a lot of dragons by cheating on and deceiving the gamblers, who burned the casino down one night and went after him in an angry mob
• escaped his enraged customers by throwing himself into the Driftwood Drag, but being a Ridgeback he kinda drowned in the fast-flowing river
• got saved by a freak circus that had set up camp next to the stream, they reanimated him and took him in, taught him water magic to defend himself, gave him a job as stable boy
• he killed the circus master and took her place (I sense a pattern, whoops), turning the circus into a thriving business of scamming and deceit
• behind closed doors, he gathers as much magic knowledge as he can, learning from the most skilled mages in every place the show visits and collecting (stealing) old manuscripts on dark rituals
• wants to become the greatest sorcerer and fraudster the world has ever seen
• has no sense of justice or righteousness, he is a complete psychopath
