______ Lyla is not the nicest of dragons. In fact, most who know her would say she’s just the opposite. Descended from greatness, as she likes to remind others of constantly, Lyla has been magically talented since hatching. Though her main skills are in offensive magic, she is also clairvoyant, and has honed her abilities to charm, manipulate, enthrall, and cast illusions. She prefers to get what she wants by making other dragons work for her, willingly or otherwise. While she isn’t particularly antagonistic, Lyla is easily offended and can be a dangerous enemy. Those who displease her should get far, far away as quickly as possible.

______ Despite her esteemed lineage, Lyla’s attitude towards family is mainly centred around how she may profit from it. As such, she chose a young mate who resembled her closely, as best to create offspring that resemble herself. Beauty is still the most valuable trait to many dragon societies, and it is dragons like Lyla who maintain that norm. She prefers to simply sell any hatchling who has no special qualities, knowing that their beautiful colours go for a higher price. In the case of a lucky hatchling Lyla favours, for either particular beauty or magical talent, she may raise them herself to carry on her legacy of manipulation and power attained through deception.

______ Lyla inhabits a cliffside fortress, perched on the edge of Light territory, with a view of the dark forests and briars of Shadow. This building is a former ruin, restored by a small army of Lyla’s thralls who mostly fled once she removed her control spells. A few willing servants remain, most convinced that they are the lady’s favourite, all constantly vying to stay in her favour. From her castle, Lyla rules over the nearby lands, a minuscule queendom dedicated to the maintenance of Lyla’s rule, with serfs farming and paying her a tax. The fortress itself is mostly empty, though sometimes a few hatchlings are to be found, taking advantage of what little time they have to run and play before they are inevitably sold.
