"Welcome, welcome," an exuberant voice rings out when you enter through the swinging oaken door. You pull down your hood to following the innkeeper's voice. You take your place at the bar-top where Xenia stands with a rag in her hand. Her colors remind you of a warm autumn day, and she smells of rosehips and petrichor. Her green shawl flows as she steps along the countertop with a rag to give it off a polished finish free of crumbs and water stains. You notice many objects - supposedly you thought were inanimate - has taken life to its own. It is unlike you have ever seen before. Xenia watches your stare directed towards a broom sweeping dust away from the floorboard. "Oh, you must not be familiar with Windbound magic," she responds with a hint of amusement. You shake your head as your gaze moves over to a kettle waddling its way over to you. A steam blows out of its orange nozzle in greeting - despite how the teapot is without eyes, you think it is looking directly at you. A small teacup of the same color settles in front of you, and the kettle then pours hot content into it. Xenia gestures for you to drink up. "That is Omri," she grinned as it waddles away then continues, "Windvieled Village is particularly known for its magics. We call it Windbound magic, and we believe it carries on through the winds that blow down from the Slumbering Giants. Many travelers are not familiar with our legends or our way around here, but that is quite alright! You can always visit with the Elders if you are curious - of course, if they aren't too busy...." You take another sip from the cup. Each taste of the tea seems intoxicating - it fills you with the same kind of warmth that hugs give. You then fish for change rattling inside your coinpurse for one night's stay. "Here, have a sweet roll," she accepts the coins then offers. "It is filled with raspberry custard - it is quite divine tasting. Should you leave next morning, you should stop by Dulcie's bakery! She makes some rather delightful pastries. Now, have a pleasant night. Please let me know if you need anything else!" |
