“And like the moon, we must go through phases of emptiness to feel full again.” Tsukiyomi was in a clutch of eggs that had hatched on the day of a Solar Eclipse, which shrouded the world in complete darkness for a quite some time. All was dark around the nesting grounds that held other dragon families that where waiting for their hatchlings to hatch at any given moment. For the first few moments of the pearlcatcher’s life, all he saw was complete darkness. The elders of the clan saw this Solar Eclipse as a omen for something, which they did not know at the time, which would change Tsukiyomi‘s life forever. When the Eclipse was over and done with, clan life resumed to normality though his parents where shocked to find out that their hatchling was ‘moon touched’ so to speak. They didn’t expect that Tsukiyomi was going to be in the exact coloring of the moon that had shrouded their world in darkness a few moments ago. They brought this to the attention of the clan elders and the clans healer, but they didn’t pay him any mind for it wasn’t ‘life threatening’ to him. Though in the next few years, things started to change around the now adolescent pearlcatcher. Tsukiyomi noticed that other dragons should whisper about him being a moon touched dragon and that he should be exiled for being hatched on a Solar Eclipse. Those comments hurt, but he paid them no mind, and held his head high. Things did change around the moon touched peralcatcher for whenever there was moonlight around him, flowers would bloom out of nowhere. He had of course, told his parents, but they thought it was just coincidence that he was probably near them as moonlight touched them. Tsukiyomi didn’t believe them. Fast forward a couple years, and he completely forgets about the moon flowers blooming next to him, though he didn’t expect another Solar Eclipse to happen so soon in his lifetime. Though this Solar Eclipse was different then the first one he had experienced when was but a hatchling. As the world was shrouded in shadow, he heard gasps all around him, and even Tsukiyomi himself was shocked to see that he was glowing as bright as the moon does in the darkest of nights.

 It was when the eclipse was at its highest peak, that Tsukiyomi had felt power surging within him and with ever ounce of his new found power he had made the eclipse progress much faster and the world was no longer shrouded in darkness. Though the Goddess of the Moon would rather Tsukiyomi be taken under the guidance of her to become the next deity of the moon, he politely declined and rather asked if he could be a disciple and spread her good will around the lands. From the point onwards, Tsukiyomi was now known as the Disciple of the Moon, traveling the lands and speaking for the goddess of the moon as well as spreading light amongst the darkness. |
