NOTES
- Manpachi :'D !!!!
- Korisenman fanderg :')) To go with Senzo, in the homesteading page of the Spirit Village tab!!
- Manpachi is an young intersex tanuki / raccoon dog.
- Born from the mountains, to a normal family of tanuki.
- However, his shapeshifting abilities, and strong magical nature, were too much for the mountain which he inhabited... The spirits living there (and most of all, the main spirit maiden of the area) had to slumber, to replenish the magic of their land stolen by the lil' being's birth... Causing never-ending winter, spreads of illnesses, and therefore the death of Manpachi's entire family (his two parents, plus like... His 4-5 siblings).
- This isn't in canon, but... My timeline, my stuff! lol :'33
- Manpachi will deal with grief and self-hatred, due to that event...
- Feared and hated by everyone around him (both by normal animals and other shapeshifters), for being oh so different, and causing death... Manpachi will finally find solace in Senzo.
- Senzo is a black kitsune, who became twisted and mean-spirited due to rejection and bad treatments, from everyone else around him... Because he was ALSO different.
- Senzo and Manpachi are both very similar, in the way that they were treated by others, and why...
- :'(((
- Ofc, at first Senzo does NOT want to take care of the lil' tanuki, and is kinda... Rude, and even abusive, to him.
- Since Senzo's mission (to help Manpachi grow, and to take care of him, and to teach him the ways of the worlds), was given to him by Amaterasu, the sun goddess... And the kitsune does NOT like her :'D !
- Since Amaterasu was the one to imprison him in a stony tomb, for 300 years... And then to wake him up / free him... With drawbacks, ofc (the punishing rosary... Etc.)
- But!! Senzo will slowly come around, and develop an actual bond with Manpachi...
- In this timeline tho, Manpachi is hurt by Senzo's behaviour and words towards him, early on. So while Senzo will feel some guilt after a bit, and do his best to mend the bridge... Manpachi will also need some time to forgive him.
- While in the canon manga (or at the very least, in the first three tomes), Manpachi is very pure; and doesn't show much anger or bad feelings, in those circumstances... Mostly falling in self-blaming and sadness.
- But here... Manpachi will get quite hurt emotionally, and feel a biiiit angry towards Senzo B))
- Manpachi slowly builds up a rosary of beads, that he wears around his neck... He gets one from time to time, when helping spirits and shapeshifters.
- Later on, he'll also have a greenish mantle, underneath the beads...
- He's also super fluffy! Upon growing and getting more powers, he'll have a glowing golden flame on his "third-eye" spot / forehead :'33 That's when he becomes more of an adult tho!!
- As an adult also, his bushy and fluffy tail will have dark stripes / dark rings, on it... Akin to our north american raccoons?
- It's more like... Markings of his magic?? He acquires them later on :'33!
- Being a shapeshifter and a magical being... He doesn't feel anything about gender. For him, he feels like "he" and "xer", that's it :'D! lol
- I know that, eventually, Senzo and Manpachi will shapeshift into humans, and stay in a small apartment in a modern building / city.
- Considering that the cast of charas sometimes transforms into humans, PLUS go in modern settings / the human city, in canon... Not too out there :'D hehe
- There WAS a 300 years-time skip for Senzo, after all... As he slept in the stone :'D !
- But yes, I think they'll get by in the human city, as the "big brother caring for his younger sibling", dynamic??
- There are spirits to take care of... Even in the city :'D !!
- The female kitsune (forgot her name xwx) will come to live with them in their apartment, after a bit!
- Cook them food (like she did for them, in the "gateway" shop / forest zone), and take care of the groceries / money, and generally act as the keeper of their "base of operation" B')) !
- She'll also help them out on their missions, at times :'D!!! She IS a kitsune, after all... So she has a few powers!
- When the three of them (Senzo, female kitsune, and Manpachi) are seen in the city as humans, together... People who don't know them, and only see them in passing, will think of them as a family :'D
- Like "oh look how cute this couple and their kid, are!! what a nice family!"
- :'))))))
- Manpachi does enjoy this a lot, haha :'D! What with his own family being dead, due to his sole existence...
- Found-family trooope with Senzo and the white female kitsune, aahhh //hearts!!
- Female kitsune also enjoys this... I doN't know if she has a crush on Senzo in particular, or if she's just... Like that :'D? Very lovey-dovey in her personality in general, omg!
- Also, Manpachi will have access to a computer eventually, in their apartment... Like, a small desktop? And he'll roleplay with other internet dwellers, lol :'D
- Y'know, with the usual simple style of writing, such as : *the tanuki approaches you* hello :3 ! *paws at you*
- He uses emoticons, as you can see... OMg :'33
- And he's good at communicating in people's chosen languages... Well, in japanese and english, at the very least :'D! And a bit in french (just a few words) that he picked up from... Somewhere?? OMg bby!
- Even when he's older / fully grown, and serves under Amaterasu (or well, has more duties in general?), he'll still find the time to roleplay with human users, on them internets :'3!!
- Like, a hobby that he'll always keep close to him, in his spare time :'3!
- He'll also "joke" about being a "tanuki IRL"! ... Which is true haha :'D But his internet friends don't know that, lol.
- OMG??? He'll actually make (human) friends online, and they'll eventually meet IRL (with Manpachi posing as a human, obvs)!!
- And ofc, they'll always catch up online; since he has japanese friends, but also others from overseas :'3! Hence, he can't always see the latter ones whenever he wants :'((
- I think he'll meet ONE other internet user, who will turn out to be a shapeshifter too?? To figure out :'00?? I think it will be a holy chicken (like the canon sacred ones, working under Amaterasu) or something like that...
- OMg wait!! It's a young (female) holy rabbit :'))) All white in fur, and who apparently brings good luck??... And they become super close / very good friendos!!
- Ofc, Senzo is always like "be careful with strangers!" and semi-looking over the young'in's back, whenever Manpachi is on the internet... And accompanying him to meet his friends :'D
- See? Senzo will go from "what the heck is this tanuki, I want nothing to do with him??" to like... A helicopter-parent / guardian :'3!
- I love this so much, omGGG
- Manpachi, as a tanuki, can stay on all four, or walk on his two back legs... Mostly as he grows up and gets a bit older, for the latter...

- To figure oouuut!!

TO PUT ON ANOTHER DERG?? VV
- Identifies as an alien.
- Xenogender, because xers alien identity does not have the same concepts of gender as dragonkind/etc.
- Xer is in a Spiral body tho.
- But probably has the soul of an alien?? Only xer knows.
- Auctions the pelts during the spring, with Howl.
- Pelts that are auctioned, native to the Village; owlynxes (hunted), turkeys (hunted, entire feathered skin), mammophants and the other variant (hunted), maulers (hunted), nochnyr and variant (hunted), rasa and variant (hunted), elk and variant (hunted), walrus variants (hunted), thievuls (hunted), foxes (domesticated descendants of wild thievuls, farmed), floral foxes (farmed), tanuki/raccoon dogs (farmed), rabbits (farmed), minks (farmed), ampelopes (farmed), planesrunners (farmed, not that often), Igueel (farmed).
- Pelts that are auctioned, exotics/from outside the Ice territories; cloud dancers and sunspot variant (hunted or harvested thanks to other clans), ferberus and variant (hunted/harvested), featherback boars (hunted/harvested), otters (hunted/harvested), jackalopes (hunted/harvested), depins (hunted/harvested), seals and cumulus (hunted/harvested), quillrunners (hunted/harvested), rhino variants (hunted/harvested), greattusks (hunted/harvested, mostly for the defenses - but sometimes they can get the whole skins, which is what they sell in the Spirit Village's auctions), Chimeras (hunted/harvested), featherboars (hunted/harvested), owlcats (hunted/harvested), FINISH THIS LIST
- Prices in general (each one is the average or, mostly, the base minimum value) : taxidermy skins are 500kt; rug cuts are 300kt; wallhangers are 200kt; trim pelts, non-suitable for anything but clothing, are 100kt.
- After skinning off the pelts/skins, the Villagers flesh them if needed, then let them air-dry (fur-in) on a board, or hanging from a hook. Then, they turn them fur-out later on, put them back on the boards/hooks for final drying, and finally send them in to the Auction Building annex to be ordered and classed.
- If dragons want to tan pelts properly, they can use multiple methods. Oil and smoke, bark, salt (thawing), sawdust/wood-dust, or even chemicals. Or maybe preservation magic...
- Chemicals that are developed by Lightning corporations. Tho they're more into machines lore-wise, they still do the SCIENCE.
- In general, the Spirit Village uses a "chemicals and magic" mix (thanks to the Ebene Coven and the Stormlight Research Facility being there). A way to remove the natural oils from the skin, then replace it with a chemical preservative. Magic just helps the whole thing settle in well inside the hide, as well as soften the leather afterwards (or break it quite a bit).
- Also, for the Floral Foxes, magic is the only way to fully preserve their pelt flowers.
- Runa is the only one that doesn't use anything fancy. She breaks the leather and softens the hide solely with her hands, she's a lot more... Close, to her job.
- I mean, everyone in the Village's fur trade enjoys it (kinda), but Runa is really "in fusion" with her whole taxidermy thing.
- She's an Ultimate, after all.
- I need to rank the fur/feather-bearing species as to what kind sells the most/is the most expensive.
- Pretty sure that the Floral Foxes and Planesrunners are up there... Mink and rabbits are low on the list. Rabbits being used more for clothing...
- Foxes are in-between, but more on the up-side of value.
- Ok so. Farmed Spirit Village species, ranked in value for one pelt (least to most, general value that can go up or down depending on quality and vocation, like mentioned above) : rabbits are 50kt; mink are 75kt; raccoon dogs are 125kt; ampelopes are 250kt; foxes are 320kt; Igueel are 355kt; Floral Foxes are 400kt; Planesrunners are 550kt.
- Obviously, bundles can cost slightly less overall. And depending on what the pelt is used for...
- Like, a trim rabbit (25kt) vs a taxidermy rabbit (125kt)... Give or take.
- Numbers are complicated riiiip
- Cause there's a lot more work in a taxidermy skin... You gotta split the lips, eyelids, ears and nose; get all the pads and claws, etc etc.
- Dragons can, in general, skin out multiple trim or wallhanger medium pelts a day... But can only do one big taxidermy pelt a day, since it takes so much time and effort.
- So... Yeah.
- Pelts that are ordered/classed in the annex, get a little paper or ticket attached to them; it shows the symbol and name of the clan/group/business/individual who produced it.
- For example, a Floral Fox pelt would have the Spirit Village's seal, as well as the Fur Farm Family's icon or symbol, plus name underneath.
- IRL it's a code bar, but this makes more sense in FR universe.
- Each ticket is made differently depending on the pelt producers or clans involved in the fur trade.
- They're all made out of preserved paper (that doesn't decay in water right away, just in case), but the way the icons and symbols and text are made on it, vary wildly.
- Artists in each clans are in charge for coming up with the "logo" for their fur provider.
- Like, in general, providers come up with the concept; while artists then paint it, or burn it, or use any medium they want, to create said symbol.
- Tho it can be different in some clans, or groups. Depending how they're ran and who leads, etc etc.
- The Spirit Village ain't gonna force those rules on everyone else lol
- As long as there is a quick way for the employees to identify where which pelt or bundle comes from... It's all fine.
- Personalize that stuff as you wish, my man.
- You can even put a feather or a tooth or an accessory, attached to the ticket, if that's what sets you apart from the rest of the providers.
- Marketing and all, y'know.
- Castor's familiar is a machine that "reads" the logos and names on the identification tickets, with its tails.
- So like, instead of a code bar scanner like IRL, it's a machine that "scans" the ticket and builds up data (or a bank) about every sales. The Spirit Village probably has a supercomputer somewhere in the Stormlight Research Facility, and they can see who sells the best pelts or the most furs, etc etc.
- Also, there are multiple categories of pelts/skins, depending on the quality of the fur itself (for furbearers), if there are holes in the skin, what parts are missing...
- Size is also important.
- Ok so.
- Grading goes (lowest to highest) : Damaged (with a lot of holes/tears, or very out-of-season pelts/skins as well as young juveniles); I (a bit better, but with some damage or out of season/juveniles); II (passable, can have some holes or be slightly out of season/older juveniles); III (no leather damage, but the fur isn't the best); Silver (also no damage, close to perfect. The fur can be a bit blander or with less visible care in it); Gold (very close to perfect, the only thing separating this from the best level can be the lack of perfect plushness in the fur, or simply the hide not having colours in demand. Also, if the skin isn't spotless or pristine, and if the fur lacks slight shiny-ness); Platinum (perfectly plush with tons of underfur and guard hairs, or if non-fur-bearer, with all the markings and characteristics in demand. The leather is clean, with no fat or tissue visible... Also known as a perfect pelt.)
- Size is (per species, as they each have their own respective sizes) : XS (smallest); S; M; L; XL; XXL (biggest).
- The most expensive skin would be an XXL, Platinum, rare creature, Taxidermy skin... I don't even want to think how expensive that would be omg...
- On the opposite, the cheapest would be an XS, Damaged, common or very common creature, Trim skin... Oof.
- Every creature is case-skinned, unless impossible or very difficult to do so (Igueel, greattusks, etc)
