Born into the world alone, cold and tiny, she had nothing to accompany her but the creatures of the night. So she called and called for someone. The castaway dragonet burbled and cried, shivering so hard the last scraps of her eggshell slid off.

And called back to her, they did.

Wingaloo, they crooned, wingaloowingaloo.

She listened, tiny ears pricked as if she understood. Cupped her trembling talons together and curled into the remains of her birth, blowing from deep within her belly. Under the moonlight, she learned to kindle the warmth within herself gifted by the Flamecaller herself.

Her throat rumbled with heat and it spilled out into her talons: bright, hot, and lively. It was the only reason she did not die that night. She gave herself life.

Birthed herself, with the Flamecaller's gift to her children. The creatures of the night helped her when her very own parents refused.

And for that she would reward them.

But for now, her purpose is to live one more hour. One more night, one more life.
