Biography

Quote:
Around her Little Finger

Halvard watched from the rooftops, round, white eyes looking out from a dark cowl. His breath came out in puffs of mist, as he waited for the moment to act. The cold night winds blew past him, making him draw his mask just a bit tighter. He was no stranger to scouting, his light frame and subtle weapons speaking his experience, but it was always so lonely. He slumped against a chimney, pulling a treasured locket from the folds of his armor.

It was a delicate thing, styled with emeralds and silvery filigree, gleaming against his darkened clothes. On a whim, he clicked it open. His eyes softened, looking upon her face. The picture of her here was Voiken as she always was: stern, serious, hardy. Her pink eyes shone like gems against her scales of dark green, a twinkle of respect for the one to depict her. A face that he would never get tired of seeing.

She was a cunning one, always just a bit ahead, bitterly determined to outlast those that would put her down. It wasn’t often that Halvard was seen as more than just a winter breeze in the night, but she had detected him, just like that. She had evaded his maneuvers, even went so far as to trap him in his own tunnel. Her magic around his throat, she made him an offer: to join her in her mission, or be crushed like a gnat. How could Halvard say no? After all, her skill and strength had caught more than just his body that night.

It might have been strange, an assassin partnering with their mark, but it made perfect sense to Halvard. It was the dramatic twist, the fateful meeting between two who were bound to each other. Looking at her face, the spiral sighed longingly, thinking of things to come. No matter how long it took, he would chip away at that icy exterior, to find the affection he knew was deep down. She would swoon as he brought news of her enemies’ defeat, dance with him in the deserted ballroom they had created. She was a queen, and he would be her faithful knight. Their victory would be perfect, and she would be his.

The clatter of a door broke Halvard from his dream. Peeking over the roof, his target was on the move. Once again, his fantasizing had cost him valuable information. He picked up the pace, watching from the shadows that he was accustomed to. Voiken would reprimand him for his carelessness, but that was exactly what he loved about her.

He wasn’t frustrated at what happened. With time so fleeting, he had to savor those moments while he could. He knew he was the ring wrapped around her finger, and he couldn’t be happier.
