Azrael.

"All in vain; because Death, in approaching him had stalked with his black shadow before him, and enveloped the victim. And it was the mournful influence of the unperceived shadow that caused him to feel --although he neither saw nor heard --to feel the presence of my head within the room."

Azrael was raised to be a warrior by his father, a knight. He wanted nothing more than to be a knight like his father. He trained every day to be the pinnacle of what a knight should be. Then before he could take his knighthood in hand an army invaded the kingdom he lived and brought it to ask and puss. His family was all killed and only because he was in the woods training did he escape the massacre. He fled, boiling rage at the loss of his family, country, and his knighthood.

He took to becoming a sellsword for a while but could never shake the habit he had of protecting those who couldn't protect themselves. It landed him in plenty of trouble but his skills were such he could usually get himself out of trouble again. That was how he met Murjanah in Dragonhome. He was looking for work and she was being accosted by some ruffians. Azrael stepped right in to defend her honor despite her insistence she didn't need the help.

After that they ran into each other a few more times. First as acquaintances, then friends, and finally more intimately. Azrael couldn't deny he had quite strong feelings for the older woman despite himself and was thrilled to know his feelings were returned.

But that time of his life is well over by now. He'd made a name for himself as a sellsword and word of his survival reached the ears of the king who had destroyed his country and bounty hunters were sent for his head. He fought them off but lost. They would have killed him if not for Murjanah. He was too delirious to remember quite what happened but next he knew he was waking up in a grand lair in Dragonhome. Murjanah told him she saved his life but in doing so he was no longer a dragon, but a Prime Hunter.

Confused at first Azrael eventually took his new body in great stride. He works quite closely with Aiden now- who was quite thrilled to know Azrael wanted to become a knight to a lord and Aiden was just the dragon for the job- in maintaining the border around the Cathedral and keeping an eye on Beast clan and any dragon clans who'd want to make trouble for them. And when he isn't doing such he spends his time with Murjanah, both in and out of their chambers.
