Metis is, officially, an assistant to Scial, but with Toadpole, Smark, and Stratus around, they don't really need to do much. They tend to mill around the lab, but don't go into town much. Scial says they're not supposed to, since she doesn't know how people would react.

The reason Metis isn't really supposed to leave the lab is because it's a product of an experiment Scial was running to find out more about the animals in Sornieth. It snuck in as a hatchie and got too curious, swallowing a vial of chemicals extracted from an Augite Protector and transforming into a dragon-ized version of the animal. It's curious and mischievous, but like the name of the familiar it's fused with suggests, very protective of it's home and family.
