"Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding."

The two ice dragons who found the water egg washed up on the shores of the Southern Icefield were ecstatic. They had been unable to have a nest of their own and hoped that this little sign from the gods would be the answer to their prayers.

Using magic and alchemy to attempt to turn the egg to one that would bring forth a dragon who could survive on the ice was a risk, but it panned out… mostly. Their child was born able to survive the cold with no problem. However, something about the transformation had caused the little one’s body to take on the texture and coloring of the inside of a shell, which stunted him into an eternal hatchling.

Hyperion was named after a god from stories, and was raised in the service of the Icewarden. Unfortunately, his parents didn’t understand that he was finding himself more and more drawn to water. They tried to keep him away from the medium that called to him - to make him into what they wanted to be. No child wants to be told what they should be, so Hyperion left home after finally being disowned. He’d firmly informed them that his god was Tidelord, and they couldn’t let him be who he was.

Like so many others who have lost what they thought was their true home, Hyperion ended up at Chaotic Daydreams. While he is happy to have a place where he is accepted for what he is and how he thinks and feels, the little one is still dealing with abandonment issues. At times he finds himself feeling utterly lost and unworthy of the love of anyone if his own parents couldn’t accept his differences.

Healing doesn’t happen overnight, though. And Hyperion is in the best place to slowly come to terms with the pain of the past and hopefully break free of it. In the meantime, his lair mates will continue to let him know that he is loved and respected for just who he is now.
