By his side was his daughter and mate, at night they were together -- happy as could be. But during the day... he couldn't do a thing. It was his daughter which crumbled first. trampled during the fights which raged in the camp. At nightfall the stone which encased his form turned to dust, and he was met with Venetta's cries over the rumble that once took the form of their child. Marble did not shed a tear that night. He was promised happiness, a life full of his clan-mates gratitude for the effort he put in keeping them all safe. Those were lies told to his face, and he started to to mourn the night. Venetta went next, not too long after. But somehow Marble survived the battle of the ghast, and the war between tribes. He watched many take the place of his family, and he told them all the same thing. This was not a job, we would not be appreciated, this is a curse. Some nights he could catch the eye of the white skydancer checking up on her creations. Some nights she would talk with the younger and ask how they were. Some nights... she would take them away and they would never be seen again. He didn't care enough to know. And then came Vaati, and his heart was the first thing to cave in. She looked nearly identical to the daughter he had lost -- and immediately he knew this was a cruel joke played by the skydancer smiling as they were introduced. Marble vowed he would protect this one... a shame that was a lie as well. | xxxxx |
