Biography
This dragon was a free gift from TheSquishyKing if you ever lose interest in them please send them back.
There is no weapon more dangerous than a smile, and Nebula would know. He has become a god with little more than a grin, a deity by wit and charm.
And those would who claim otherwise no longer have full faculty of their minds. How tragic for them.
Of course, it still rankles Nebula that they ever captured him to begin with. An entire continent nearly under his thrall, offering up their worship, and still some small corner resisted. They stepped into the shadows, slipped behind Nebula while he basked in the adoration of the masses, and with that, they unseated him.
He remembers every day spent in the Fortress of Ends. If the cold was meant to dull him, to turn him into a frozen husk, it only sharpened his every edge by making every minute precious, every word a treasure. He started small, with simple requests, conversational musings left to hang in the chilly prison air. But each word was a seed, waiting for his signal to bloom. One by one, he slithered into the guards' minds, stripping them of their defenses, stroking their egos.
And one by one, he broke them.
Some died, he's sure. He's never cared to confirm it, because their lives were of little consequence to him beyond the initial inconvenience of imprisonment. If they perished, so be it. And if they didn't, then let them live with broken minds, still not long for this world. He made sure to leave them with nothing. It wasn't strictly necessary for his escape, but it was satisfying retribution for their transgressions.
Jailers to a god. How presumptuous.
But who presumes here? asks the voice in the back of his mind, the infernal seed of doubt that lives on after all these years. So often, it tries to rein Nebula in, to restrain his power and glory. It is the last vestige of a lesser being, and sooner or later, he will kill it off and complete his ascension to unfettered godhood. Such is his destiny. No, his right.
He cannot seem to kill it yet, though. Does not dare to. Because in the time he spent planning his escape from the Fortress of Ends, a rift opened into this world, and through it flows a power at once thrilling and horrifying. Nebula knows it intimately, not by name, but by the way it matches his own.
What is a god and his charm to such a presence? He wants to say a god nonetheless, but there is no ignoring the doubt that blossoms in his chest. He must act quickly to ensure his immortal reign, or this new power will surely find him.
For the first time, he has found something he is not sure a god can survive.
