KyokaSuigetsu

After he was abandoned by Aizen, Kyoka Suigetsu found himself in a new form in a new world. He was no longer a sword, but instead a creature he came to realize was a dragon. He waded through murky swamps, slashed his way past jungle vines, all in search of a home. Finally, having traveled everywhere, he decided to go where all dragons told him not to. He decided to go to the Scarred Wasteland. 'It can't be such a bad place' he thought to himself. He had seen many things. Aizen had done many things. Kyoka Suigetsu had done many things for Aizen.

The Scarred Wasteland was a emptier place than Kyoka Suigetsu had thought. That is, of living things. Bones were scattered everywhere, and there was a faint but everlasting smell of rot in the air.

He walked and flew and walked and flew, but never found a single living soul. Not even a single rotting carcass. Just endless mountains of bone.

The scalding heat was familiar.

The smell of death was familiar.

All that was missing was sand. Sand as far as the eye could see.

One day, Kyoka Suigetsu, delirious from hunger and dehydration, was attacked. He felt claws on his back, teeth sinking into his neck.

Any other dragon might have been stunned, might have collapsed onto the ground, powerless to even struggle against the assailant. But Kyoka Suigetsu wasn't just any dragon. Even when he was a zanpakuto, he wasn't just any zanpakuto. He was the sword spirit of Aizen. A captain. The god of Las Noches.

He was a zanpakuto that could cast illusions on anyone who laid their eyes on him.

Yes, he was abandoned, but for the Hogyoku. But any shinigami would have abandoned their zanpakuto's for the Hogyoku.

He fought back, ripping and tearing through his opponent's scales. They clawed at his face, trying to get at his eyes, but Kyoka Suigetsu killed the other dragon before they could.

*crack*

White scales fell off Kyoka Suigetsu's face.

'What...? Since when... did I have white scales?' A horrible idea occurred to him. He extended a claw to feel his face. What he felt there confirmed his suspicions. Hard, cracked bone covered the scales there.
