Biography

soB3myZ.png

Persephone was the daughter of two gods - that of the sky and that of the harvest and fertility. Fiercely guarded by her mother, who allowed none near her for fear of losing her. One suitor refused to give up, however, and chose instead to kidnap the young maiden. Distraught, her mother wandered the earth looking for her daughter - and as her grief grew, so did that of the earth above, leading to the death of nature. Torn between the protection of her mother and the love of her suitor, Persephone chose to live half of the year with her husband in the world of fire and obsidian below, and half of the year with her mother in the world of nature and fertility above. As such, Persephone was known as the goddess of spring, as her return to her mother brought the fertility of the land once again.

This dragon was rescued from exalting, and has been named Persephone due to her entrance into this lair being her "new beginning" - such as spring is a new beginning.

ORIGIN
z9VGk8R.png
▸ Torn Daughter: Torn between the protection of her mother and the love of her suitor, Persephone felt as if she had no proper home. Was she expected to remain by her mother's side forever, or was it acceptable to venture out to live with her husband? Would she ever feel as if she'd made the right choice?

Her eyes had an emerald sheen
And she wrapped herself in beauty
So young and so serene.

There was not meant to be life in the wasteland of brimstone and fire that she lived in. Yet everywhere that she stepped life blossomed - colorful and vibrant, radiating something peaceful that the land of fire had never known before.

Wherever she walked, she brought light to darkness and color to shades and shadows. Where before there were only cold stones and skeletal decorations, Persephone created a garden. From her love were born hybrids - plants formed of both nature and gemstones.

Flower petals blossomed with rubies and amethysts within their centers. Vines wrapped around crystals of quartz. Obsidian replaced leaves. Fire glittered within stems.

The joining of nature and death united these hybrids - and formed the first garden in a land of fire and rock. Where life was not supposed to exist, her gentle touch encouraged it to grow. Where life had never existed, she created it.

It was in her garden that she was bound. Where she found happiness despite the darkness, and felt at home despite being so far from it. She was a creature of nurture and nature, of warmth and growth and vitality - and she was never meant to leave the gardens of spring.

She was never meant to be taken away from the abundance of the harvest, or the fertility of the summer lands. Her naive, young heart only knew home when held in the arms of her mother under a mahogany tree, and the only whispers she knew where that of the wind through the wheat. Yet fate had willed for her to part ways with it all when he'd found her.

She was never meant to live in a place of fire and stone.

Yet even if a place of fire and stone, she found spring.

Against all odds, she created life.

After all, life will flourish in the most unlikely of places.

She faded into a flower,
That would bloom for one bright eve
For he could not take from the forest,
What was never meant to leave.

FAMILY:
z9VGk8R.png
Though she is separated from her mother for half of the year, Persephone is well-liked by most. Her kind heart, nurturing personality, innocent nature, and natural curiosity draws many to want to spend time in her presence.

Many do not realize, however, that the goddess of spring has a catastrophically darker side to her.

FUTURE
z9VGk8R.png
▸ Flower Maiden: In the regions where it should be impossible for plant life to flourish in the fire realm, Persephone whispers sweetly. Her soft-spoken words and gentle touch encourage blooming petals and dancing vines, turning fields of lava flows into lush, fertile, gardens of prosperity and life.

He's by her side always - her guardian.

He's restless again - little whimpers escaping as six beady eyes flicker in fear behind closed eyelids. Paws kick out against ghosts that she cannot see, a canine's mind ensnared in a memory that she's never lived through.

She loathes those sounds. She loathes the thought that such a creature could feel so distressed.

She doesn't know what horrors her three-headed companion has seen while guarding the entrance to the Underworld. Before her, there was no life down there - no beauty, no color. No one to look after him as he stood dutifully at his eternal guard post.

A soft summer's hum starts in her throat as she sits next to Cerberus on the cold brimstone and reaches out to stroke his fur. The hum continues on for hours and the coldness of the stone creeps into her bones - but still she sits guard and sings.

She sings until her companion has forgotten whatever nightmare had plagued him.
She watches over him while he rests.

He looks at her as if she is happiness incarnate.

They all told her to stay away from him - that he was bad news. Dangerous and unpredictable, unreliable and dishonest. And they were right, in their own ways. But she'd never been very good at doing what she was told - and curiosity always got the best of her.

His dark, blooding nature only drew her closer. Everyone was always so careful around her - so gentle, as if she were breakable - but he was sharp edges of obsidian and stone. He was kind to her despite their disapproving looks, gave her freedom to explore and rare smiles that no one else saw. He gave her his time and let her pick her way through and pull down the guard that he'd put up around himself.

He looked at her as if she were his lifeline - as if he wanted to see her every day for the rest of his life.

As if he wanted to love her for eternity.

She would be content with her life if she could be the source of his happiness.
