Khem

Though not too old in body, Khem feels ancient in mind and soul. He showed an affinity for magic extremely young, and was taken in at just two weeks old by a coven of witches. Though made up of dragons of multiple flights, they were mostly lightning dragons just like him. Over the next twenty years, Khem was trained with his new brothers and sisters in the art of dark witchcraft. He cared not about the ethics of this type of magic, but rather about his own genius and standing in the witch community. He wanted to be the best, to be recognized by the Matrons, and to start his very own coven, which can only be achieved by discovering/creating something new in the field. His lust for power and fame cost him everything. In his pursuit, he lost his two partners. This, followed by the consequences, opened his eyes to reality. He began to question everything he knew. A year or two after the great loss, Khem leaves the witches to find himself and peace.

He is on the run because he left, and especially because he left before finishing his punishment of killing two witches (even though it was on accident). He now squats in the Shadow Flight, the small band of dragons he lives with having no idea of his dark and troubled past.
