Hunt Leader

"There's nothing more frightening - and exciting - than getting lost in a forest. There is a journey towards the light, and you've got to go through the dark to get to the light. That's what the forest is all about."

Oshosi isn’t quite sure what he is. While he currently has dragon shape, he often has dreams and flashes of memories where he was something completely different. In those visions, he is the spirit associated with the hunt, forests, animals, and wealth. He is a spirit of meals, because it is he who provides food. He is associated with lightness, astuteness, wisdom, and craftiness in the hunt. He is the orixa of contemplation, loving the arts and beautiful things. He hunts with a bow and arrow, hunting for good influences and positive energies.

All of these things, he has tried to explain to others over his life. Oshosi is quite familiar with the expressions that march across the face of his listeners as they try to process what he is saying: interest, puzzlement, scepticism, disbelief, then the clear thought that he was definitely mad.

Wondering if he was ever going to find a place where he fit in, Oshosi wandered for quite a while. Each forest he came to had a different feel. Reveling in the different biomes, the dragon would stay for a little bit until the restlessness would start again.

Oshosi knew he’d found his home when he set foot in the forest on the landward side of Chaotic Daydreams. It was almost like stepping over some invisible boundary. The instant he set foot on the territory claimed by the clan, a sense of homecoming flooded his body so strongly that he had to sit down on the forest floor. It took him several days to comb every inch of the forest and get to know it as if he had never lived anywhere else.

When the first dragons from the lair of the lunatics found him in their territory, Oshosi was convinced he’d have to leave this new haven. But, just like the forest itself, the denizens of this lair were completely different than any others he had met. For one thing, they believed every word he said about who he thought he was. In fact, when he was brought before the guiding spirits of the clan, they were able to help him open up more memories from another life.

Because Oshosi’s memories and abilities have been unlocked, he is more happy and complete than he’s ever been. Joining up with the few other dragons who found solace living mostly alone in the wilderness, the tundra helps to guard and care for the land and creatures on it. Animals and dragons alike are protected by this gentle spirit of the wild.
