Istos is a member of Clan Birdskull's foraging team. He also cares for a small flock of red-footed akirbeaks. He incubates their eggs, raises the chicks, and releases the adult birds into their native range in an attempt to restore the wild population of this endangered bird. He will occasionally sell them into captivity as familiars, but will only do so if an individual akirbeak is unreleaseable for some reason, such as having a birth defect that would threaten its ability to survive in the wild.
