The lost year the clan experienced was perhaps one of the largest trials of faith that Valentine had yet faced. To be lost in the Abiding Boneyard, to wonder if her hubris that the clan was not necessarily practicing their honoring of the Plague Mother properly was the cause of their wanderings...

It was not, and looking back she recognizes that. But it was a test of her faith nonetheless, and Valentine rose to the occasion--coming out the other side with a deeper, more nuanced understanding of faith and how to honour the deities of the world.
