Biography
"Florian!" I call as the guardian pokes his head out of the cavern's entrance, "over here!" His head swivels around for a moment and then his gaze settles on me. Heat signature rises ever so slightly. We've arranged to meet above ground, in a sunny clearing within the Starwood. It's a glorious day, just before starfall, and the air is pleasantly cool. "Thank you for agreeing to meet me here!" I'm excited to see him, it's all I can do to keep my tail from whipping around with joy. I'm on friendly terms with most of the dragons of arcstead, and I do enjoy my job, but Florian is a close friend of mine, and it's not every day I get to spend time with friends while on the clock.
He shifts his wings, a gesture I know well. He's a bashful sort, hates attention. "Good Morning Rin, It's my pleasure," he responds, tone light and friendly in spite of his mild discomfort. We settle onto the grass and I get out my notebook. "I hope you've got some good questions," he says, peering over my shoulder at the papers before me. "You know how I tend to be with one word answers."
I nod. "These should be enough to get at least a sentence out of you," I tease. "Alright, the best place to start is the beginning. For the record, state your name and pronouns."
"My name is Florian," he says evenly, "I prefer male pronouns, though any are fine I suppose"
"Excellent! Now, if I may ask, Where were you hatched? What was your childhood like?"
Florian thinks for a moment. "You know, I don't think that my birth clan had a name, you know? It was always just "The Clan", which is fine and all I suppose, but it doesn't really allow for much distinction. Not that I have much memory of it anyway. I came to live in arcstead when I was still a hatchling, I can barely remember my birth parents. It was within Arcane though, probably a fair way out though. It was a good childhood though, coming here I mean. Arcanist knows we got into enough trouble. My parents were so sure I was going to get myself drowned in the river," he laughs at the memory, seemingly lost in it. "My parents worried a lot I think. This was before we found Dreamweaver, so at that point the only hatchling they'd managed to raise to adulthood was Clovelia. I think that weighed really heavily on them. I was oblivious though, always on about something or other. I definitely spent too many days drifting down near the mages' workshops, hoping to catch some of their understanding for myself. It was fun though, I don't think I ever really worried, even when we were having issues in the clan as a whole. I guess you could call it kind of idyllic."
"Alright," I said, pressing forward with the interview. It was nice not to have to worry about buffering sentiments or condolences here. "Do you have any family within the clan? What can you tell me about them?"
"I'm adopted, as you well know.
