Biography

Nimue
First mate

gtH9QgI.gif Nimue is a bit of a mystery, even to the rest of their crew. They're very private and don't talk that much, so it's difficult for even long-time crewmates to get anything out of her. One thing's certain, though: whatever's happened to her, she's become very, very loyal to their captain.

Nimue's been a member of Hadan's crew since well before they were sailing on the Wandering Storm. Her long history with the captain means she's one of the few dragons he respects, and it's clear the respect is mutual. They're a stoic and cold dragon, hardened by the life they've lived, and they don't respect just anyone. Despite their cold and intimidating nature, they're a slightly more approachable dragon than the capricious captain, so if there's an issue on the ship, they're more likely to handle it. They tend to prefer doling out punishments, though they're more likely to hold back than the captain.

They're just as secretive of their charge as of their past. She keeps it close to her at all times, hiding it in a locket around her neck. No one knows what it is, aside from it being small. The most common rumor is that their charge was destroyed and they keep the last remaining piece in the locket. No one would ever suggest it within earshot of her, though; it's never a good idea to insult a guardian, and doubly so a guardian like her.

The thing that initially brought my attention to Nimue was how she utilized a lot of colors that I would've thought I'd be against. Normally greens and reds tend to come off as too christmas-y to me, and I never would've thought to combine the two shades with orca, but the cool tones fit together really well, and her accents of red and green fit perfectly with her fearsome pirate aesthetic.

Who could resist an enigmatic, hardened pirate with a fascinating tragic backstory? Not me, that's sure. Once again, the outfit is superb. And, once again, I can't help but gawk at all those lovely layers of colorful textile. The pitch-black scarf looks magnificent, the striking red even more so. I also love, love, love the vibrant green tertiary. Seems like a peculiar choice for a dragon with strong red and black color palette, but it only made Nimue cooler.

The toxic green spots remind me on one of those beautiful but poisonous frogs...or the patterns on butterfly's wings warning the enemies not to mess around with them.

I absolutely love me some gruff pirates. Nimue is incredibly handsome, I love their colors so much! The reds of their apparel contrast so well against the grey of their scales, and I love the way the green spots from their peacock match their eyes. It makes them look delightfully spooky, like those bugs that use eyespots to ward off predators. This really adds to the reputation they have for being distant, since the spots tell others to back off.

I also really love the concept you've set up for their charge. The rumor of their locket holding the last shards of whatever it used to be is both sweet and tragic; the dichotomy of wanting to protect something yet knowing it was already damaged under your care is an incredible story.
