Calamity

She was running through the woods, trying to retrieve her hat that had flown off. The hat was dear to her, no one understood why though. Calamity almost caught it before another strong updraft lifted it up. Suddenly, the hat came crashing down into a river, and without Calamity realizing it, she slipped. Calamity was now back home, ringing her hat out. A hatchling ran up to her to watch her, but she shooed him away. Her father always told her to not get distracted, or it could lead to death, just like her mother. A lot of people claim that her mother got distracted from her current objective and got murdered because of it. Calamity never believed it though, she still believes her mother is out there somewhere, enjoying life as it should be, and not slaving away. Calamity was tired from the running, and hunger. After she ate, she went to lay down and dream a very empty deep. Before she entirely fell asleep, she saw a dragon enter. Calamity was too late though, and fell asleep before she was able to know who entered. Calamity woke up, alert and sleep deprived. She saw nothing though, no break in, nothing was stolen, and she wasn't injured. Calamity questioned whether what she saw was a vision or real, but didn't dwell on it anymore. What was the point of dwelling on something that didn't affect her?
