Wayfarer was born among the Stronghold to Romeo and Cate, but eventually found his path taking him to the sea. When Sphyrna’s ship came to port near the castle he was hatched in, he found the call of adventure too tempting to pass up. He always found himself enjoying the travels he would go on with his mother, and this seemed like just a grander version of that. Giving his supportive parents a heartfelt goodbye, he left to board The Interloper.

Wayfarer’s dedication to the job quickly impressed Sphyrna, and the Fae found himself becoming her First Mate rather quickly. His stoic focus on his job led to him becoming a fierce if somewhat unapproachable guardian of the ship, loyal to his bones as expected of him. He only ever started to open up when a pair of traumatized runaways came aboard The Interloper seeking sanctuary.

He was suspicious upon their boarding; he was old enough to remember the split of the Renegades from the Stronghold, and the scent and look of them screamed that they came from Fierce’s vicious gang, though it quickly subsided when he saw the haunted look in the eye of Malice and the scarred form of Hemlock. It was clear that despite everything, these dragons were of no danger to him or the crew. He never tried prying the story from Malice; she seemed very much unwilling to recount her tale to anybody, but as time went by Wayfarer found himself bonding with Hemlock. The Fae who had been brutalized on her flight from the Renegades, left blinded and scarred physically and mentally, seemed desperate to prove her trustworthiness to her new family, and Wayfarer became her biggest advocate. Eventually, she even gave him some of her backstory as a short of trust, and Wayfarer accepted her as is.

Wayfarer has softened up a little bit since then, learning not to judge so quickly those who come aboard. Him and Hemlock have become the odd couple, two dragons born on opposite sides of conflict they had no part in starting finding peace and even love on the high sea. Hah! Quite the story for the history books I’d say.

(Wayfarer is a quiet yet adventurous dragon, who enjoyed going with his mother Cate on her ambassador missions, and eventually took this love to sea when he came aboard The Interloper. He quickly became a trustworthy and fierce First Mate, though he has loosened up a little bit when bonding with Hemlock.)
