Miracle opened her eyes. She'd been having a strange dream, the one she had most nights. The one about her parents. She rolled over, trying to fall back asleep, but the light streaming through her window was making it super difficult. She'd asked to be put in a room with no window so she could actually get some sleep, but of course the adults didn't listen. She'd gotten stuck with a window that woke her up way earlier than she would've liked. And dragons wondered why she always looked tired...

Well, there was no point in trying to fall back asleep. She groaned softly and rolled, literally rolled, out of bed. She plopped down onto the floor, wishing she could bury herself in the worn carpet beneath her and make the sun go away. She didn't know how the others in the clan could stand it. Being a plague dragon, she was perfectly fine with a darker atmosphere.

She got up, walked over to the entrance, and stood for a second, trying to blink the sun out of her eyes. This place was supposedly called 'The Starclan,' but it wasn't very... Well, starry. The sun seemed to shine constantly, making it hard for Miracle to ever sleep.

That was probably why her free time was spent trying to get the other hatchlings to sleep. She'd dreamed of being a singer ever since she'd left her old clan, and she used her talents to sing lullabies to the hatchlings so they wouldn't be cranky. Some of the older dragons used her for it, but she didn't mind. She didn't want the young ones to be constantly groggy like she was.

She looked around once her eyes had adjusted. No one else seemed to be up, as far as she could tell. She was a bit jittery about the dream. She couldn't remember much of it but it definitely had something to do with her parents. She decided she'd go visit her friend Sunchaser. That usually made her feel better.

And she walked around the currently empty clan, she thought about her past. Her parents had always been strange, distant. Her father was of plague, like her. Her mother had been a sage of ice. She didn't know much about them other than that, or her many siblings. She walked on.

When she reached her friend's place, she sighed contentedly. She always felt at home here. She walked in a bit farther, searching, and then she saw her. Sunchaser. She was asleep, like usual. Somehow, even though she was arcane and had windows all over her room, she was almost always sleeping. Miracle didn't mind, though. She liked her sleeping. She looked so peaceful... So content. Miracle smiled. She inched over to her and snuggled into her feathery wings. Sunchaser stirred and pulled her closer.

Miracle smiled. She hadn't felt so warm in a long time, despite living on one of the warmest places in Sorienth. It felt good. She snuggled closer into Sunchaser's outstretched wings and put her head on her shoulder. She felt the scales on her face become a little pinker. She still felt nervous about the nightmares she'd had... Her parents... But she pushed those aside. If there was a reason she kept having them, well, she was willing to wait for it.

She was warm. She was comfortable. She was with her friend. She snuggled with Sunchaser and they slept together. Miracle didn't have a single nightmare.
