Biography
Marinae]
Ribbons of blue brushed the beach, fizzling away into great mounds of white foam. The smell of salt wafted through the warm, summer air. Clouds were sparse in the bright turquoise sky, and though the sun beat down heavy and warm, a light breezed whisked through Marinae's hair.
Everything was perfect.
But was it?
She kept telling herself that, over and over again. That it didn't matter if she was the only here, it didn't matter that each day was brilliant but the same, it didn't matter that...
She was lonely.
Marinae had loved it at first. Running away had been the best choice of her life! Finally she had been free of all the boring, strict rules of a clan obsessed with control and obedience. Everything had belonged to her, the sandy beaches and crystalline pools. She had done what she wanted, when she wanted.
Then she grew up.
It had happened too fast! She should have been a hatchling forever, frolicking in the seaspray and collecting shells. It was her fault, and she knew it; of course having to fend for herself whilst still a child would make her mature faster. But she hadn't thought it would be quite this fast.
Now she was tired, lonely and bored. Each day passed much the same. Nothing new, ever, until... Them.
