History
At this point, Miraak had decided that his life was a joke.

Thousands of years he had prepared for his return to Tamriel, and for what? Defeat. Wretched, agonizing defeat. And if that- if his death- wasn't enough, the gods had given him the worst curse of all.

In reincarnation, they made him a dragon.

The irony of it was not lost on him. He had killed hundreds of them, devoured their souls to feed his own power. He had subjugated them and used them, as they had once done to him long ago when he had been their priest. Yet he had once again had his life (could he even call himself alive at this point?) flipped around on its head. From worshiping them, to killing them, to subjugating them, to being worshipped by them, to becoming one of them- it seemed fate was just as cruel as ever.

But becoming what he loathed would not stop him from being who he was: Miraak, the first dragonborn- and all those in this so-called 'Pit' would tremble from his voice alone.

Trivia

He still knows his dragon shouts, including the one that allows him to devour a dragon's soul. This makes him incredibly dangerous to the majority of inhabitants in the Pit. It's why he ended up in the Pit, in fact. Waking up in a world of dragons after dying horribly sent him into a frantic destruction spree, lashing out and tearing souls from dragons with ease. Such terrifying power had him on the run quickly, and with nowhere left to turn, he entered The Devil's Pit.
An adept mage beyond just his knowledge in dragon shouts. He has harnessed eldritch magic to use as his own in battle. From being alive so long, he’s also excellent with a sword, among other weapons. For the thousands of years of entrapment, he had plenty of time to learn.
Many others have tried to learn his shouts, but he is the only dragonborn in Sornieth. They don’t have the right magic for it, and that suits Miraak just fine.
